Production Supervisor

The Supervisor is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of manufacturing operations through the leadership and development of production operators. To be effective in this role, the successful shift supervisor must have excellent leadership and communication skills. Given the demanding nature of manufacturing operations, a great mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills will be necessary for success.

Pay Range: Confidential

Working Hours: 45 hours per week minimum as required

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Responsible for the safety of all employees on the shift – Report or resolve safety issues / concerns
  • Educate and ensure operators follow Seabrook policies as stated in handbook and promptly document exceptions
  • Know and ensure employees are following the Seabrook TS 16949 procedures, Work Instructions etc.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings and ensure operators are aware of manufacturing priorities
  • Communicate with / between Quality Technician and Process Technician
  • Assign Operators production activities according to production planning schedules
  • Maintain training matrix and cross-training of employees
  • Maintain product quality, productivity, and paperwork checks for accuracy
  • Make sure relief operators are providing operators with scheduled breaks
  • Responsible for product from their shift that is placed in the Reject Cage
  • Monitor, address and document quality policy and procedure issues with employees
  • Ensure paperwork is completed, correct, and delivered on time
  • Communicates with other Shift Supervisors in person and / or via a log book
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of entire plant and warehouse
  • Assist with Operator performance appraisals on a timely basis, recommending corrective action and skill development as necessary
  • Assist with internal audits / inventory
  • Assist with continuous improvement activities
  • Assist with corrective actions when required
  • Cover for other Shift Supervisors as needed
  • Report all issues or concerns to the Production Manager
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Production Manager

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prevent and resolve conflict
  • Skilled in training and developing operators
  • Treats direct reports and peers with respect and dignity
  • Conversant in all ERP and related computer software required for the role

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma; Associates degree preferred
  • Knowledge of ISO / TS 16949 Requirements
  • Experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing / Toyota Production System concepts
  • 3-or more years of production / materials management
